Meet Wanda Gavade, MATHESON’s self-proclaimed “Mailman” and the heartbeat of the Montgomeryville, PA office’s community outreach. Whether she’s streamlining processes or rallying the team for a charity drive, Wanda brings passion and precision to every aspect of her role as Administrative Support Manager.

If you’ve ever contacted MATHESON’s general info email address, chances are Wanda has handled or directed your correspondence! Wanda’s journey with MATHESON began in 2015, managing the general inquiry inbox and e-commerce web registrations. Her knack for organizing and helping others led to her promotion to Administrative Support Manager in April 2021.

Be ready and open to learning new things. We are constantly learning, even after almost nine years, I am learning something new every day.

In her current role, Wanda leads a team that manages MATHESON’s digital communications, along with handling order entries and daily eCustoms Reports. She also updates Master Control Procedures and opens new accounts for the Specialty Gas sales team, constantly improving processes for efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Wanda’s contributions to MATHESON go beyond her day-to-day duties. She is the driving force behind many of her office’s fundraisers and charity events. Inspired by her parents’ mission work, Wanda finds immense joy in organizing initiatives that support good causes. From organizing food drives for a local nonprofit, to creating the Wall of Honor for our service men and women on display in our Montgomeryville, PA office, her efforts have brought the MATHESON team closer together. She believes that teamwork is essential, saying, “It really is a team of people who step up and help.”

Wanda’s passion for reading mystery novels, painting, and spending time with her family, keeps her grounded and inspired. She makes the most of her time outside of work saying, “Life is too short not to enjoy each and every minute of it.”

She describes MATHESON as an amazing place to work, highlighting the challenging and stimulating atmosphere and the great people she collaborates with. Wanda emphasizes her team’s dedication to continuous improvement and encourages new employees to do the same. She advises, “Be ready and open to learning new things. We are constantly learning, even after almost nine years, I am learning something new every day.”

Meet Bill Thrush, Site Manager at our Falls Creek, PA location, and a devoted member of the MATHESON team. After spending 26 years in manufacturing, Bill was approached by a recruiter for an interview which led him to join MATHESON where he has now been for five years.

Bill’s days are filled with dynamic responsibilities. He starts working with his Distribution Manager early to prepare for the day’s activities. Bill is deeply involved in ensuring compliance at his location and often lends his expertise by conducting audits at other sites.

Bill’s noteworthy accomplishments at MATHESON include leading his zone in Savings Improvement Projects (SIPs) every year since he came on board. His initiatives are consistently over goal while maintaining a safe work environment. He also mentors several site managers, fostering strong team connections and development. Bill’s collaboration with another location’s site manager has earned them the title of the “Dynamic Duo” – Bill jokingly calls his partner Robin “because obviously, I am The Batman.”

Outside of work, Bill cherishes time with his family, enjoys traveling, and loves a fun round of golf.

His words of wisdom for colleagues and aspiring professionals are to stay positive and embrace each new day as an opportunity to excel. Bill finds inspiration in the mantra, “Never let the world change your smile, let your smile change the world.”

Meet Greg Boege, one of MATHESON’s trusted Outside Sales Representatives, who celebrated his fourth anniversary with us this June. With 30 years of sales experience in manufacturing equipment for marine transportation and beverage industries, Greg joined MATHESON after hearing “through the grapevine” about a winery specialist opening.

Greg’s role is dynamic, balancing current customer needs while seeking new opportunities, ensuring he brings in new business for MATHESON. He believes sales success hinges on communication and meeting expectations, advising fellow teammates to communicate, as actions have a lasting impact.

One of Greg’s biggest challenges came shortly after he joined MATHESON in June 2020. A Northern California refinery shut down due to the pandemic, leaving the region without a Carbon Dioxide (CO2) source, which is critical for local wineries. Despite the crisis, Greg and his team were able to find a new CO2 source in time for the fall harvest season, ensuring no winery customers were lost.

Proud of consistently exceeding corporate and customer expectations, Greg values his conscientious coworkers at MATHESON, who prioritize every order. He appreciates MATHESON’s lean business structure, which reminds each teammate that every action counts. As Greg says, “Know that everything you consciously do, positive or negative, has an effect on tomorrow’s outcome.”    

Outside of work, Greg is passionate about his home life with his wife Kathleen, their kids, and grandkids. He also enjoys anything related to the Pacific Ocean.

Inspired by his father, a Strategic Air Command B-52 pilot in the US Air Force, Greg lives by the mantra, “kick the tires and light the fires,” a fun way of saying “carpe diem” and to enjoy life to the fullest.

Meet Steve Sherman, an integral part of the MATHESON team bringing a rich background with nearly 30 years of recruiting experience. Steve has navigated various roles in business management, IT, and driver recruiting before joining MATHESON as our Sr. Driver Recruiter and Trainer. His passion for recruiting remains as strong today as when he first started.

In his role, Steve focuses on finding qualified, safe drivers, ensuring they align with MATHESON’s standards. His dedication goes beyond filling seats as he aims to solve recruitment challenges and prevent turnover, emphasizing proactive strategies for retention. Steve’s commitment to excellence is evident in his approach. His time is dedicated to searching for and screening candidates while seeking innovative ways to improve results.

One of Steve’s favorite parts of his job is receiving calls from recently hired drivers, thanking him for helping them land at MATHESON and expressing their love for the job—a testament to his dedication and impact. He and the recruiting team share the goal of achieving these results. They regularly exchange feedback and actively seek ways to enhance their efficiency. As Steve says, “It challenges me to think and look for ways to grow … I aim to be the best at what I do.”

Outside of work, Steve enjoys maintaining his yard, fishing, and attending concerts. Steve says there’s nothing better than dinner and a show on a Saturday night! As an avid sports fan, he also passionately supports the NY Mets and NY Giants through all of their ups and downs. Additionally, being from New Jersey, Steve is Team Pork Roll…he adds, “Taylor Ham is the brand name!”

Meet Manny Dejesus, a dedicated member of our affiliate company, Continental Carbonic Products, with extensive experience in distribution and manufacturing, spanning 25 years. Joining Continental Carbonic 13 years ago, Manny has steadily progressed within the company, most recently serving as the Plant Manager in Martinez, CA, before his promotion to Plant Manager in Bridgeport, TX.

Manny’s journey at Continental Carbonic is one of continuous growth and achievement, allowing him to live and work all across the country! Starting as a driver in 2011, he quickly climbed the ranks, holding positions such as Assistant Branch Manager, Branch Manager, Distribution Manager, and Assistant Plant Manager before being appointed Plant Manager in 2020. His recent promotion to lead the Bridgeport, TX plant underscores his dedication and exemplary performance within the company.

As a plant manager, Manny is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the plant, with a strong focus on maintaining a safe work environment and ensuring the highest standards of production quality. His leadership was tested during the challenges of the 2020 pandemic when he played a pivotal role in boosting employee morale and ensuring continued operational success.

Manny collaborates closely with his colleagues through weekly calls, where they share updates and brainstorm ideas to enhance efficiency and safety in the workplace. To support new employees, Manny offers valuable advice, encouraging them to stay motivated, learn a new skill that can lead to advancement, and take advantage of new opportunities. His guiding mantra, “The best way to predict your future is to create it,” reflects his proactive approach to personal and professional development.
