As we celebrate Welding Month, MATHESON is excited to highlight Stephanie, a skilled welder and former production floor supervisor, who has focused her career on Flux-Cored Arc and Heavy Plate welding. She is an accomplished and talented employee who is inspiring others to consider a new and exciting career within the welding industry. This former beauty queen, salon owner and advertising graduate pivoted her career mid-life to take on new and exciting opportunities within the welding profession.
Taking a cue from her son who decided at an early age to pursue a career in welding, spurred Stephanie to take steps to learn more about the industry. And from there, a new passion and career began. Now working for MATHESON in Outside Sales Support, Stephanie’s experience as an accomplished welder directly benefits our customers and suppliers.

Continuing her education at the Milwaukee Area Technical College in Welding Technology, her knowledge and experience are only continuing to grow. “I’m a very driven person,” Stephanie said. As an emerging leader in the welding industry, she continued, “It’s breaking norms down not by pushing them over, but by having and possessing the knowledge to earn the respect of those around you, as well as seeking those out who can assist and guide you in gaining that knowledge.”
Indeed, with a shortage of welders projected well into the future, this field is uniquely open to anyone willing to learn a new skill or consider a new occupation. Stephanie is also hopeful that future partnerships can be developed within schools across the country to help young people see the exciting possibilities available to them in the field of welding technology.
Passionate about the industry, as well as the future of Robotic Automation, Stephanie mentioned, “There are growth opportunities from welding positions, to set-up, to robotics and automation…Young students need to be exposed to this type of work to see how creative it can be, while being a part of something at the forefront of developing technologies.”
