Tomorrow marks the end of Driver Appreciation Week, and MATHESON is excited to continue celebrating the remarkable individuals who keep our operations running smoothly. This September, we’re shining a spotlight on exceptional drivers like Michelle Eisley, whose dedication and expertise exemplify the best of what we do. With an unwavering commitment to safety and mentorship, Michelle is an integral part of the driving team at Western International Gas and Cylinders.

Michelle is a Bulk Acetylene Driver, working out of the Geismar, Louisiana location. She has been part of the Western team for about a year and a half and recently took on more responsibility as a final certification liaison, guiding new drivers in developing essential skills.

As a mother of four, Michelle initially applied for the driving position because it offered everything she wanted: a consistent route, daily home time, and competitive compensation. Despite her hesitation, encouragement from the team throughout the interview process gave her the confidence to take on the role.

Michelle’s day starts early, often around 2:30 am. Upon arrival at the plant, she ensures all safety protocols and paperwork are in order before beginning her duties. Her key responsibility is to deliver acetylene gas safely and efficiently.

Her proudest accomplishment at Western is mastering her job’s procedures, yet she never calls herself an expert because she believes there is always room to improve and learn. As Michelle puts it, “I don’t care if it’s a child teaching me…I am going to listen.”

What Michelle enjoys most about Western is the collaborative and safety-oriented culture. Everyone, from management to maintenance, is willing to help and improve work performance. She appreciates the sense of community and the commitment to working together towards common goals. For new employees, Michelle advises staying open to learning from others, with all levels of experience.

Michelle’s dedication and positive attitude make her an invaluable member of the Western International Gas and Cylinders team. Her outstanding performance highlights the critical role drivers play in our success.

MATHESON extends heartfelt thanks to Michelle and all drivers for their exceptional work. We deeply appreciate your hard work and commitment to excellence.

He recently transitioned into an Inside Sales Support role, broadening his skill set and increasing his impact at MATHESON.

It is everybody’s responsibility – if you see something, say something!

Ron

Originally from Kentucky, Ron began his career as a mechanic, then moved on to work in the coalfields before eventually establishing a successful transportation business. His entrepreneurial background sharpened his expertise in office management, inventory, routing, and load securement, enhancing his versatile skill set.

Ron is driven by a desire to keep learning and growing within MATHESON, valuing the opportunity to expand his expertise. He embraces the possibilities and challenges that come with his new position.

Outside of work, Ron immerses himself in the Florida lifestyle, enjoying outdoor activities like scuba diving, kayaking, boating, fishing, and soaking up the sunshine. He humorously mentions trading his snow shovel for a sand shovel after moving south.

Ron deeply appreciates MATHESON’s commitment to safety, which is highlighted in their daily Tool Box Talk meetings. These meetings not only focus on safety topics but also foster a sense of camaraderie among colleagues. Ron emphasizes the role each teammate plays in maintaining a safe work environment, stating, “It is everybody’s responsibility – if you see something, say something!”

Meet Anne Rotert, an accomplished Safety Sales Specialist at MATHESON for over six years. Anne started her safety career 21 years ago as a customer service agent, quickly advancing to outside sales for a decade. In 2014, she earned OSHA certifications and became an OSHA Authorized Outreach Trainer. She then spent four years training employees and developing safety programs before joining MATHESON.

At MATHESON, Anne supports both new and existing customers, conducts safety audits, and provides safety training to our sales teams. In addition to her OSHA training, Anne’s areas of expertise include hazard assessment and safety program development. She takes pride in being named Safety Sales Specialist of the Year three times and earning a spot in Sales Paradise for cross-selling achievements.

Anne finds the most fulfillment at MATHESON through her interactions with colleagues. She values the relationships she has cultivated with Outside Sales Representatives, Regional General Managers, and Zone Vice Presidents, all of whom support her efforts in growing the business. MATHESON’s company culture of “doing the right thing” resonates with Anne’s personal philosophy and the values she instills in her children. Anne says this viewpoint often involves having honest conversations with customers, which, in the end, builds trust and respect.

Beyond her professional life, Anne and her husband, Scott, enjoy their two daughters’ involvement in sports. She also likes playing volleyball, riding her Harley, and advocating for breast cancer screening and homeless veterans. Inspired by stories of struggling veterans from her father, a veteran himself, she and Scott are partnering with a program to construct tiny homes for homeless veterans.

Anne advises new teammates to immerse themselves in the knowledge around them and never stop learning. Anne’s favorite saying is “The greatest source of learning is your most unhappy customer.” She believes in taking responsibility, learning from mistakes, and being a team player.

Anne exemplifies dedication, expertise, and compassion in her role at MATHESON. We are proud to have her as a part of our team and to share her story.
